Artist’s statement:
I have been painting watercolors for 30 years and am particularly drawn to experimental techniques. I love working with paper and water media. Recently I have been experimenting with Yupo, a synthetic paper, and am intrigued by the action of watercolor on its surface. Traditionally, I prefer hand-made and rag papers, but Yupo has been a great surprise.
Thematically, I like to explore the ineffable rather than the representational. I am especially interested in the evocation of collective experience that often emerges as a painting develops.
About the Artist:
My paintings have been exhibited at local cafes and libraries, Open Studios in Oakland, various charitable Bay Area art auctions, and at the Bedford Gallery in Walnut Creek. I am a member of the California Watercolor Society and the Oakland Art Association.
